Good Weight Loss Habits vs. Bad Weight Loss Habits

So, the New Year is off and running for 21 days now. You started a new diet, enrolled at a local gym, and you’re taking your lunch to work. These are all a great new set of habits that you are starting, but are some of your old habits slowing down or stopping your progress?

Humans are creatures of habit, and breaking old habits is one of the toughest things we have to deal with. When it comes to creating new lifestyle choices when we start up a new weight loss program, sometimes we overlook some of the smaller habits we already have. These small habits can add up to be big hindrances in our battle of the bulge.

We all know that we need to drink more water to lose fat and keep our bodies working properly, yet we still pound down the coffee. Coffee is a natural diuretic, therefore, you are spinning your wheels in the hydration department if the majority of your fluids come from coffee. Also consider the calories in that double mocha-chino latte thingy you drink every morning. Switch to Green Tea. It keeps the metabolism up all day, and is a great antioxidant.

Another bad weight loss habit is rest. In today’s society people just don’t get enough sleep and rest. Being tired all the time has not only physical implications, but it leads to unhealthy diet choices. If you are tired in the middle of the day, you are more likely to reach for that bag of chips or candy bar. “Just one won’t hurt”, right? You are also more likely to skip the gym if you are not getting proper rest. Make sure you are taking time out of your busy life to unwind, and watch your weight loss program work more effectively.
